Lenten Season Classes for Lent
Lent is a time of reflection and introspection, beginning with Ash Wednesday when Christians mark the coming experiences of Christ leading up to his crucifixion on the Thursday before Easter.
Community Presbyterian Church of San Juan Capistrano is offering an Ash Wednesday Service on February 14th and a Lenten Series of interactive weekly classes beginning on Wednesday, February 21.
- February 14 — Ash Wednesday, Imposition of Ashes
- February 21 — Meditative Yoga (chair yoga or you may bring your own mat)
How does meditative yoga fit in?
A certified Yoga instructor will lead this restorative class to facilitate improved meditation and daily life, increased energy and release.
- February 28 —Walk the labyrinth by candlelight
Have you ever walked a labyrinth? Have you prayed your way out?
This ancient symbol combines the imagery of the circle and the spiral as a symbol of one's search for meaning and guidance. In this class, the labyrinth represents a journey to the center and then back out into the world.
- March 7 — Meditative art and Prayer (led by a certified Meet the Masters art teacher)
Are you ready to enter the world of meditative art?
Led by a "Meet the Masters" art teacher, join this class to learn to meditate on five of the Stations of the Cross, starting with Falling, followed by Veronica's Veil, the Crucifixion, the Tomb and the Resurrection.
- March 14 — Why Pray? Spiritual Introspection
Do you ever think about what prayer is or could be for you? What does one pray about? Where do you pray? What is your prayer process?
This class offers participative discussion of that inward journey of spiritual introspection.
Start the evening with a soup and salad dinner at 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall. A free will offering basket will be placed on the table. Programs
begin at 7:00 p.m.
These classes are open to all, including families - age 12 and up can attend the class.

Lenten Connection 2018:
During this Lenten season, the Christian Education team wants to encourage the congregation of Community
Presbyterian Church not only to join us for our Soul Tending series but to engage in the daily practice of prayer and
devotion. Many of you may already have a tool that you use for this purpose.
For those of you who are interested but don’t know where to start, here are three ideas
- You can access the daily lectionary on our website.
(Or ask Megan Beck for a paper copy of the readings.)
- Access "Our Daily Bread" online or download the app
App Name: "Our Daily Bread" by RBC Ministries
- Download the app "Pray As You Go" by MoveApp
We would also like to pair you with a prayer partner from our congregation during Lent. Our hope is
that you can connect with this person once a week through email, text, or in person. You can fill out an
information form on Sunday, February 11 or on Ash Wednesday and give it to Megan Beck. Please
see Megan or Terri Beck for details.
If you know you want a partner and will not be at church on Sunday or Ash Wednesday, email Megan
Beck at email@example.com and she will partner you up with someone.
